Uganda Bamboo Association (UBA) seeks to bring together interested organizations and community members to share information, resources and technology in growing and adding value to bamboo in order to boost national wealth and improve ecosystem health. The Association has been conceived at a time when bamboo is recognized as a factor for green economic growth, trade and poverty reduction. An initiative that is of particular interest to this development is the Dutch-Sino-East Africa Bamboo Development Programme that builds on Chinese and Dutch expertise in bamboo value chain development, product design, marketing and standardization and has been conceived to support East Africa unlock the vast potential of its indigenous bamboo resources.
Uganda Bamboo Association exists to promote sustainable sources of Bamboo and their profitable utilisation to boost national wealth and ecosystem health. The Association will support nationwide bamboo growing and value addition.
The Association is a platform for identification of local and international bamboo resources and enterprises. Members will meet international, regional and local experts to receive training on bamboo propagation, sustainability and value addition. They will also obtain planting materials and carry out cooperative marketing of their bamboo resources.
